Dale Carter

Co owner of Carter Outdoors

As a native of Pike County, Illinois, Dale has seen tremendous change take place. Growing up as a youngster Dale learned to hunt, chasing squirrels and rabbits, only because when he was a kid, the whitetail deer had yet to be introduced to Pike County. He recalls hunting his first whitetail deer around the time Dale started high school. Some years later, Dale relocated to California to join the Marine Corp in the 70’s. After Dale’s tour of duty, he decided to stay around California and that is when he started his real-estate career.

Seeing the future of outdoor recreation, Dale started purchasing property in the hills along the Illinois River. “I would come home in the fall for approximately 3 weeks and I always was able to take a trophy buck with my bow” –Dale Carter. He later sold his large Real Estate Company in 1996 in order to return home and focus on his new business endeavor of outfitting with co-owner and nephew Nathan Carter. By this time, The Carter Boys controlled about 5,000 contiguous acres which enabled them to implement a trophy management program. “In just three short years, signs of big trophy whitetail bucks seemed to be everywhere, “stated Carter. By adhering to a strict management program and limiting the number of hunters that hunt with them, it ensured a better hunt for clientele and a healthier, stronger whitetail herd. You could say that they are a true Trophy Whitetail Buck Outfitter. Over the years, not only has their T.V. exposure grown, but their business and positive reputation has grown as well. “I have been very privileged to become associated with Tom Miranda as a Solocam Pro on his show Matthews “Dominant Bucks,” Dale Carter. Matthews “Dominant Bucks” is a highly acclaimed television show on the Outdoor channel, which covers all aspects of hunting the Dominant Whitetail buck. This show is a must see for any hunter, so watch every week.

Since Pike County is the perfect Whitetail habitat, the deer herd has increased rapidly. If you were to pick a point on a map and design a perfect Whitetail environment, Pike County has it. Carter Outdoors continues to strive for professionalism and integrity in offering a hunt of a lifetime, where Your Dreams can truly Become Reality.
